Community Edition Updates
- Error bars are available on Bar and Line charts. (docs | docs)
- Audit Log Improvements
- Transaction auditing has been improved by consolidating all relevant information in one location in the audit log.
- The audit log now records both the original file name and the generated file name in cases where uploaded files have been automatically renamed.
- Detailed audit logging is automatically enabled for Samples, Sources, Data Classes, and Assay Data, ensuring greater compliance and confidence that all user actions, particularly those occurring via Client APIs, are fully tracked.
- API users are now prevented from reducing the audit level below the effective default or the administrator-configured value, bolstering compliance requirements.
- Detailed logging for assay results has shifted from generating many individual Experiment Events to generating linked Query Update Events (surfaced as "Assay Result Events"). Only a single summary Experiment Event is now generated for a batch update or deletion.
- Audit log now captures the method used for insert, update, and delete operations. (docs)
- A new Postgres Table Sizes report is available in the Admin Console to help administrators provision and manage the LabKey database.
- The "Export to PNG" feature of charts and plots generates images at higher resolution (minimum 2,000 pixels high), making them more suitable for publication.
- The "Allowed External Resource Hosts" option now supports src-object and src-script, allowing administrator to further customize the Content Security Policy (CSP). (docs)
- File path validation now has additional protections by adopting FileLike instead of File or Path for referencing file resources, especially as related to file references in HTTP requests.
Distribution Changes and Upgrade Notes
- LabKey Server now supports and recommends the recently released PostgreSQL 18.x. (docs)
- Upcoming in March 2026: Upgrade to Java 25 LTS. For details see Release Notes 26.3 (March 2026).
Deprecated Features
- The Use "path first" urls setting has been removed from Site Settings and turned off, regardless of the previous setting. The "Restore controller-first URLs" deprecated feature is available to temporarily force the server to generate URLs using the old "controller-first" ("controller/path/action") format, but this option will be removed in 26.3. While the server will no longer generate URLs in the old format, it will continue to accept them for the foreseeable future. (i.e., old URLs in publications or browser favorites will continue to work.) Learn more in this topic: LabKey URLs
- Support for the legacy union audit table and legacy audit columns has been deprecated.
- Support for unescaping backslash characters when importing text files has been deprecated.
- The "Advanced import options" of choosing objects during import of folder archives, as well as having those imports applied to multiple folders simultaneously, have both been removed.
- Support for object-level discussions has been removed. Old discussions are still viewable via the messages feature.
- Support for resolving missing lookup values to null when lookup by alternate key is enabled has been removed. Missing lookup values will now result in an error. (docs)
Client APIs and Development Notes
- Developers can use the moveRows API to move list rows to otherfolders or projects. (docs)
