New Study/Dataset pmedvedev  2015-08-05 12:19

Hello, new to the community so apologies if this has been answered in the past, but I couldn't find in documentation/forum.

We have a study/registry we've kept in an excel sheet and would like to transition into LabKey. At a high level all subjects are assigned an ID and have information collected at multiple events (separate label/column).

I tried "importing a dataset" but have gotten a number of errors. Is this the best way to setup a study from an excel sheet? This one seems to keep popping up: "Only one row is allowed for each Participant/Visit. Duplicates were found in the database or imported data".

Hope you can help,

Cheers,

Hello,

Without seeing your file, it is difficult to say what the issue is. But generally, if you already have the same visit record for a participant, you can't put in an identical visit again for that same participant.

For example, if you have already imported information in where you have patient John Smith with visits on August 1st (visit 1), August 4th (visit 2), and August 7th (visit 3) listed, you cannot then import that same information in again because it's already in the system and therefore a duplicate. Each visit is supposed to be unique, so you shouldn't have any more than one visit for a given visit ID.

Does that make sense?

Regards,

Jon

Additionally, you could configure the dataset for additional key columns in addition to the ParticipantID and Visit ID. The other key column values must be unique as well, so choosing the correct column to use needs to be carefully considered.

If you can, please send us a copy of your file so we can see the setup and give you our best recommendation for it.

Jon
