HIV Disease Progression: A Comparison of ARV Treatment Regimes
LabKey Server uses a fictional study for its sample data. This imaginary cohort study examines the effects of HIV on the human immune system over two years of data "collection". In particular, the researchers compare performance under different treatment regimens, tracking HIV disease progression in 200 fictional participants.
The data is fictional, but "inspired by real events" in HIV research: the data has been shaped to include plausible trends and discoverable relationships, as well as redundancies and regularities to ensure it is never confused with real observations.
Findings
Participants under anti-retroviral regimes fared much better than those without treatment, as is shown by these visualizations:
