Overview
LabKey provides a built-in chart designer for visualizing your data. In this step we will create two charts:
- The first chart will compare the CD4 levels for individual participants over time.
- The second chart will compare the mean CD4 levels for males and females over time.
Create a Time ChartTo create a sample time chart:
- On the Clinical and Assay Data tab, click Lab Results.
- Select Charts -> Create Time Chart.
- Click Choose a Measure.
- Select CD4+ (cells/mm3).
- You will see the following time chart.
- On the right hand side, select participants to include in the chart.
- Click Save.
- Name the chart: "CD4 Levels, Individual Participants".
Visualize Performance of Participant GroupsIn this step we will create a chart comparing the CD4 levels of the male and female groups.
- Click the Grouping button.
- In the popup panel, select Participant Groups and click OK.
- On the right hand side, deselect Cohort, Gender, and Country, leaving only Treatment Group selected.
- At the bottom of the chart, click Days Since Start Date.
- In the dropdown Draw x-axis as, select Months and click OK.
- Click Save As and name the view "Mean CD4 Levels Per Treatment Group".
- You now have a chart comparing the mean CD4+ levels of the different treatment groups over time.

What Else Can I Do?
Add More Data to the Chart
- Click the Measures button.
- Click Add Measure.
- Add some interesting data measure, like Lymphs.
- Refine your chart, for example, experiment with the Y-axis labeling with the Draw y-axis on dropdown.
