Overview

Software validation is the process of ensuring that a software system meets its intended use and performs reliably within its operational environment. For regulated industries, validation provides documented evidence that the system consistently produces results that meet predetermined specifications and compliance requirements. Validation of Sample Manager/LabKey LIMS is an optional add-on to Sample Manager Professional, LIMS Starter or LIMS Enterprise and performed by our third-party partner, CompliancePath. The Validation Pack is updated with each Extended Support Release (ESR) of Sample Manager/LabKey LIMS and includes Installation Qualification (IQ) and Operational Qualification (OQ) documentation. Customers are responsible for their Performance Qualification (PQ) or can opt to add it on to their validation package.

This page will be updated with the most recent version of the release schedule.

This is the generalized validation schedule for LabKey Sample Manager & LIMS. Three Extended Support Releases (ESRs) are validated each year: the March (x.3), July (x.7), and November (x.11) releases. Goal: LabKey and CompliancePath align on scope and begin preparing the Validation Pack.
  • Week -4: Kickoff meeting — LabKey and CompliancePath discuss approach, timelines, and scope.
  • Weeks -4 to 0: CompliancePath and LabKey plan validation scope and begin updating requirements (URS, Risk Assessment) and drafting the Validation Pack (OQ updates).
  • Week 0: LabKey upgrades the CompliancePath server in preparation for validation updates.

Phase 2: Your Test Environment & Performance Qualification (PQ)

Goal: Your staging environment is upgraded, and you'll receive everything you need to begin validation and start updating your PQ.
  • Week 0: LabKey upgrades your testing/staging environment.

    • Release notes
    • Validation timeline & expectations
    • Rough plans for your production upgrade
