Electronic Health Records track the health and behavior of individuals, often non-human primates, and provide critical data in research laboratory environments. Animals are assigned IDs and if you already know the ID, you can directly search for complete information about that animal. Click Browse Data, or select the Animal History tab.

Search for Particular Animals by ID

The animal history search page offers a list of different types of searches. This list may vary by center but general includes:

  • Single Animal: Enter a single ID.
  • Multiple Animals: Select to open an entry box for multiple IDs or use searches by Room/Cage or Project/Protocol.
  • Current Location: Show animals at a specified location. A set of area/room/cage selectors may be offered.
  • Entire Database: Show animals in the entire database.
After selecting the search option, click Update Report to see data on a series of tabs. Select a primary (top row) tab to see the secondary tab options. Select a secondary tab to see the information presented there. When your browser is too narrow to show all options, scroll either tab bar using the arrows to the left and right.

The set of tabs available will vary by center; specifics will be documented on your client support portal. Some examples of primary/secondary tabs that might show useful grids:

The contents of each secondary tab can also be customized to the needs of your research lab. For example, you could have numerous web parts to show additional grids, other information in wikis or message boards, or panels with options for recording actions taken.

Animal History Reporting

You can generate visualizations or other reports on top of the data in the search results. Individual fields may also contain links to other grids - for instance, clicking a value in a "Cage" column on one tab could open the profile of that cage from another tab (that might include links to the specific animals currently in it).

As another example, on the Genetics > Kinship tab, you might see a tool for exporting a kinship matrix, which you could then print to CSV. Entry fields could allow you to further filter the result.
