Premium Edition Feature Updates

• MCP Server - Enables users to ask questions about domains and data structures, providing a new way to explore and understand how data is organized within the system. (docs)
• Audit Log Maintenance feature has been moved from the Professional to the Starter edition. (docs)
• Support for non-default S3 endpoints, such as required for GovCloud. (docs)
• Improved Lineage Querying: search the lineage object for all ancestors and descendants. (docs)

Community Edition Updates

• Ability to add indexes to columns in the field editor to improve filtering and query performance.
• Audit coverage for Grid Views.
• The role "Impersonating Troubleshooter" can now impersonate Users and Groups.
• To provide more targeted troubleshooting access, the role "See Audit Log Events" is now assignable for individual projects and folders.
• To make for easier configuration, the list of Allowed External Redirect Hosts now supports wildcards.
• Database materialized views are now supported in external data sources.
• HTML comments in Markdown are no longer displayed as visible text.
• Underlying database tables with very long names in Microsoft SQL Server may be shortened in some cases. Clients who query Microsoft SQL Server tables directly may need to update their scripts.
• The Flag data type has been removed as an option in user-defined tables. Existing Flag data type fields are migrated to Text at upgrade time.
• Site Administrators can now see all views, both shared and private, using the page query-manageViews.view. (Available in 25.11 as well)
• The core.Containers table can now show all active modules in each folder.
• The "Delete All Rows" button has been removed from List grids.
• New option to open grid links in a new tab
• "Attachments" query actions report attachment counts by parent type with ability to drill into details: name, folder, size, parent info, etc.
• All stack traces displayed in the browser are now suppressed, and the "view details" link has been removed.

Distribution Changes and Upgrade Notes

• Java Upgrade: An upgrade from Java 17 to Java 25 is required.
• If you are upgrading on Windows, take note of the steps for upgrading the service here.
• Support for PostgreSQL 13.x has been removed. (docs)
• On SQL Server deployments, the tables and columns that back admin-defined tables (e.g., datasets, lists, etc.) may have their names changed at upgrade time. Long names may be shortened to accommodate new truncation rules. This will have no visible effect within the LabKey UI or APIs, but any tool or script that queries the database tables directly may need to be updated.
• LabKey now configures strong HTTPS ciphers and TLS protocols automatically in code. If your application.properties file still sets server.ssl.ciphers, server.ssl.protocol, or server.ssl.enabled-protocols, you can safely remove them. (docs)

Deprecated Features

• Support for a legacy query that unions all the event tables together into a single query has been removed.
• Support for unescaping backslash characters when importing text files has been removed.
• Dataset import files are no longer saved in the file root of the study's folder. The dataset import history page has also been adjusted to no longer offer the ability to download these data files. Administrators should delete existing import files if there are any concerns that they may contain sensitive data. (Changed in 25.11 as well.)
• LabKey now always generates container-first URLs. The related deprecated feature flag has been removed.
• Custom R report sharing has been deprecated.

Client APIs and Development Notes

• ${containerFilterName} has been added as a substitution marker in URL properties. (docs)
• URL parameter to bypass CSP log deduplication (bypassCspDedupe=true)
• API calls default to detailed audit behavior
• Client APIs can query and update samples using the RowId value; using the LSID value is no longer required.
• Workflow related tables have been moved from the sampleManagement schema to the workflow schema. (introduced in version 26.1)
• Using the CAS Identity Provider (IdP) now requires every service's host to be added to the Allowed External Redirect Hosts page.
• When updating a project group, callers of security-bulkUpdateGroup.api must use the project that owns the group. Previously, Site Administrators could perform updates in the root container.
