Here's what we're working on for the release of LabKey Server version 26.3 (March 2026).
LabKey Server SDMS
Premium Edition Feature Updates
- Improved Lineage Querying: FROM EXPANCESTORSOF()
- Improved CAS.
- Audit Log Maintenance feature has been moved from the Professional to the Starter edition.
Community Edition Updates
- Audit coverage for Grid Views.
- The role "Troubleshooting Administrator" can now impersonate Users and Groups.
- To provide more targeted troubleshooting access, the role "See Audit Log Events" is now assignable for individual projects and folders.
- To make for easier configuration, the list of Allowed External Redirect Hosts now supports wildcards.
- Materialized views now supported in external data sources.
- HTML comments in Markdown are no longer displayed as visible text.
- Gov Cloud now supported
- Container first URL always generated now.
- Tables with very long names in MS SQL Server may be shortened in some cases. Clients who query the MS SQL Server directly may need to update their scripts.
- The Flag data type has been removed.
- Site Administrators can now see all views, both shared and private, using the page query-manageViews.view. (Available in 25.11 as well)
- The core.Modules query now shows all folders where a module is active.
- The "Delete All Rows" button has been removed from List grids.
Distribution Changes and Upgrade Notes
- Java Upgrade: An upgrade from Java 17 to Java 25 is required.
- Support for PostgreSQL 13.x has been removed. (docs)
Deprecated Features
- Support for a legacy query that unions all the event tables together into a single query has been removed.
- Support for unescaping backslash characters when importing text files has been removed.
- Dataset import files are no longer saved in the file root of the study's folder. The dataset import history page has also been adjusted to no longer offer the ability to download these data files. Administrators should delete existing import files if there are any concerns that they may contain sensitive data. (Changed in 25.11 as well.)
Client APIs and Development Notes
- ${containerFilterName} has been added as a substitution marker in URL properties. (docs)
- URL parameter to bypass CSP log deduplication (bypassCspDedupe=true)
- API calls default to detailed audit behavior
- Client APIs can query and update samples using the RowId value; using the LSID value is no longer required.
- Workflow related tables have been moved from the sampleManagement schema to the workflow schema. (introduced in version 26.1)
