This topic covers the options available for editing Bioregistry entities (i.e. members of Data Classes) in the Biologics LIMS.
Edit Single Entity Details
Open the details page for any entity by clicking its name on the grid for the entity type. In this example, we look at the "CHO-K1" Cell Line.
- You will see Details, Samples, and Related Entities on the Overview tab.
- Click to edit Details.
- Authorized users can edit the Name here, as well as other details shown in the panel.
Edit One or More Entities in Grid
From the home page for the Bioregistry entity type ("Cell Line" in this example) select one or more entities and choose
Edit > Edit in Grid.

In the grid editor, you can provide different
Registry Data values for each row as needed.

Switch to the
Lineage Details tab to edit entity lineage. Click
Add Parent and select the type of parent to add, then provide values in the grid. Click
Finish Updating ## [Entity Type] when finished.
Edit Entities in Bulk
From the home page for the Bioregistry entity type ("Cell Line" in this example) select one or more entities and choose
Edit > Edit in Bulk.
In the bulk entry modal, you can set values that will apply to all selected entities for the given property; in this example, we add a shared description.
Edit Bioregistry Lineage
From the home page for the Bioregistry entity type ("Cell Line" in this example) select one or more entities and choose
Edit > Edit Parents. Values you provide will
replace the existing parents of the chosen types for the selected entities. If you want to see the current values of parents for the selected samples, use
Edit in Grid and switch to the Lineage Details tab instead.
In the
Edit Parents popup, you'll select the Bioregistry entity type of the desired parent (i.e.
Data Type 1), then select the
ParentIDs. If you leave the
ParentID field blank, all current parents of the selected type will be removed from the selected entities.
Update Registry Entities from File
Instead of editing entity details and lineage in the user interface, you can upload a revised spreadsheet of data by selecting
Add > Import from File, then checking the box to
Update data for existing registries during this file import. Data will be updated for matching Registry IDs, and new registries will be created for any new Registry IDs provided. Data will not be changed for any columns not in the imported file.
The name of the entity must match the existing row in the database. Using a
downloaded template will make it easier to format your data for reimport. You can provide a subset of data in the update file, only including the columns you want to update.

Note that update is not supported for Genbank or Fasta format files; only insert is available for these file formats.
Delete Bioregistry Data
To delete one or more entities from any Bioregistry type, select the desired rows and choose
Edit > Delete. Note that deletion cannot be undone and lineage is also deleted when an entity is deleted.
